About Mike Thoms

Mike Thoms is a fourth generation resident of Rock Island. Mike and his wife Sara have been married for 41 years and have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren.

Mike worked his way up at the family business, Thoms-Proestler Co, for 29 years. He started as a dockworker and advanced to inventory control, buyer, warehouse manager, vice president of operation, and finally to Chief Operation Officer.

After retirement Mike started developing residential and commercial properties including a golf course (Fyre Lake), and sleeping rooms in airports (Minute Suites).

Mike was the president of Renaissance Rock Island, a non-profit economic development organization for over 2 years. Mike also serves or has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations.
